AmbientLine: Light for More Ambience and Ergonomics

Revolutionary lighting concept for intensive care, recovery room and operating theatre

Light is a basic need. We deliver more than that.

The intensive care unit usually has horrible associations for most patients and their relatives. It is not only associated with a threatening health condition, but also with cold, technological dominance, and the complete loss of privacy. Intensive care personnel also suffer under these conditions. TRUMPF has recognized this and committed themselves to a fundamental change in these conditions with the new AmbientLine lighting concept. AmbientLine increases the feeling of well-being of the patient, improves working conditions for the personnel and creates a pleasant ambience.

Increased feeling of well-being
Through intelligent control of lighting characteristics, AmbientLine can support the day-night-rhythm of the patient. Maintaining this cycle is of enormous importance for the temporal orientation of the patient, for his or her feeling of well-being, and for his or her healing. A glare-free reading lamp the patient can operate himself delivers pleasant light and gives the patient back a piece of self-determination. Projections on a sail attached above the bed offer him or her a personal platform for information, communication, and entertainment.

Optimal working conditions
AmbientLine allows quick and safe orientation in the intensive care room at night, without disturbing the patient with the room light. Utensils in drawers are easily found, and examinations can be documented directly at the patient’s bed – even in darkened rooms. Special lighting modules support the examination and care of the patient. In the operating theatre, and especially for minimally invasive surgery, the coloured, glare-free lighting improves the contrast of the screens. Unobtrusive floor lighting also guarantees safe orientation of the personnel also in the operating room.

Pleasant ambience
Coloured, glare-free lighting units immerse the environment in a pleasant light, which supports the relaxation and well-being of the patient, the personnel and visitors. For example, the patient can be given personal space through pleasant lighting. The life-saving technology slips into the background.
