The TRUMPF “glass hospital” |
|
| | In the “glass hospital” from TRUMPF, a 520-square-meter trade fair booth with an open design in hall 13, the numerous visitors were able to gain first-hand knowledge from 40 TRUMPF product experts and learn about the latest developments concerning medical technology and hospital equipment at the professional lectures. A primary goal of this year’s TRUMPF presence: to show potential customers how intelligent products can contribute to uniform, economical patient and device logistics in a finely tuned interaction.
The visitors were also able to see a few examples of the successful interaction between manufacturers and users in the “glass hospital”: |
The potential for one joint solution for the intraoperative diagnostics consisting of a unique CT from Siemens, a brand-new navigation system from Brainlab, and a flexible OR table from TRUMPF. Or the cost-saving transport system for intensive care patients called IMEC, which TRUMPF developers brought to the market in close cooperation with caregivers and doctors from the hospital in Nuremburg.
In addition, two product innovations were the center of attention at this year’s trade fair presence. |

LED-surgical light with integrated CCD color camera |
|
| | One of the highlights: the LED-surgical light with integrated CCD color camera, which was first introduced at Medica 2005. The camera – as well as the light itself – can be operated sterilely and enables the transmission of video pictures that are particularly sharp and true to the original object and color, live from the OP, as well as the archiving of status pictures during the OP, quickly and comfortably, on a USB memory stick. Thus the new camera system supports both digital documentation and tele-medical applications. |

Overweight patients carried with ease - patient weights up to 360 kilograms |
|
| | Second highlight: the new generation of the MARS OR table. This flexible all-rounder is equipped for various surgical disciplines as well as for different country-specific market requirements. MARS can carry patients up to 360 kg, it has an electromotor drive, and, in addition, it is available in a low version for OR disciplines that must be carried out while sitting. Despite the increased functionality and performance, it doesn’t cost any more than the trusted predecessor model. |
In addition to product innovations and logistical concepts, the TRUMPF trade fair booth also had a communication platform for the exchange of experience and opinions among experts, users, providers, and product specialists. The daily professional lectures were a significant part of the forum. Aside from the lectures concerning intraoperative diagnostics and patient logistics, the results of a brand-new perception-psychology study were presented. This study proves the positive effect that different color temperatures, which today only the iLED surgical light offers, can have on the concentration and eyesight of surgeons.
The concept of the “glass hospital” itself was also met with great acclaim at the trade fair. Many visitors praised the openness of the booth, which didn’t block the view because of the lack of interior walls, and the fact that the overview itself wasn’t lost even with the high number of visitors.
Thus, TRUMPF had very positive results all-in-all. “The very interested visitors thoroughly questioned our experts – the iLED and the new MARS in particular proved to be real audience draws. The exchange of experience among users and experts was also a big hit," says Kamran Tahbazian, Marketing Manager. “In addition, the increased interest from foreign visitors indicated that the appeal of Medica has grown, especially for the international audience.” |
