The new JUPITER for heavy loads

Operating table and shuttle for patients weighing up to 360 kilograms

The JUPITER operating table system is now available for obese patients. The new models can support up to 360 kg. Reacting to the demands of the American and European market, TRUMPF Medizin Systeme continued its development of the tried-and-true operating table to meet the greater challenges.

People from industrial countries are not only becoming taller but also heavier and more corpulent. In the United States, for example, two-thirds of all patients are considered overweight. And even 30% to 40% of Europeans are too heavy or even obese. Of course, it is necessary for operating tables to support every body shape and every weight in all required operating positions –remaining easily maneuverable all the while. TRUMPF Medizin Systeme in Saalfeld, Germany, has therefore expanded its JUPITER operating table system with new models for heavy cases, increasing the bearing capacity from 225 kg to 360 kg.

No need to burden staff or patient with rebedding

The new JUPITER makes it easier for staff to handle heavy patients in the operating room as well as transporting them within the hospital. In addition to table columns and exchangeable tabletops, TRUMPF has also adapted all JUPITER components to the new requirements. Among them is the JUPITER shuttle, which gently takes the tabletop with the patient and securely moves from the ward to the operating room and back again. The heavier the patient the more important it becomes to avoid repositioning, which is exhausting to both patient and staff. With JUPITER, rebedding is a thing of the past thanks to the perfect interplay of the exchangeable tabletop system and shuttle – a benefit in terms of security and comfort for both nurses and patients.

Versatile and flexible – for intraoperative diagnostics as well

JUPITER’s modular principle makes it one of the most flexible table families that TRUMPF offers. It is available as an exchangeable tabletop system as well as a mobile operating table, well-suited for all diagnostic and operative applications. The tabletops can be individually adjusted, shortened or lengthened. It can also be extended using an electric interface based on motorized special modules, such as ophthalmology adapters or a seat section extension.

The adjustment settings of JUPITER are very generous. For example, depending on the column type the tabletop can be lowered to 710 mm and raised to 1,210 mm. The very even, stable base plate gives the surgeon adequate foot space at any height. To give surgeons optimal access to the operating field during every operation, JUPITER provides much room so that patients can be positioned as needed – for example in an extreme 40° Trendelenburg position and a 25° tilt. The table can be comfortably maneuvered in any position.

And JUPITER knows no limits when it comes to intraoperative diagnostics. It has an extensive tabletop retrieval with a longitudinal displacement of up to 300 mm and is available with an optional tabletop consisting of radiolucent carbon. The high-quality, easy-to-clean materials for all components meet the highest hygienic standards for operating rooms, including everything from the table column and the plates to the shuttle.
