TRUMPF has developed a new solution for orthopaedic and trauma patient positioning. A new standard will now be set by the MIS-Hip-Device, which was conceived for minimally invasive interventions such as hip arthroscopy and hip TEPs. The other components are modular parts for all types of osteosyntheses with unprecedented flexibility for applications and patient positioning.
The modular extension unit is distinguished by intuitive application during patient positioning, the operation itself, and in its ease of mounting to the operating table.
Flexible adjustment optionsThe new extension unit including the MIS-Hip-Device offers optimal freedom of movement and a multitude of adjustment angles.
Optimum patient safetyDuring the development process of the extension unit, important components, such as the extension shoe, were designed to maximise the safety and protection of the patient.
Excellent X-ray propertiesThe design principle of the extension package and the optional use of carbon fibre elements provides excellent support for intra-operative diagnosis with the C-arm.
Streamlined designThe ergonomic design, featuring stainless steel and carbon fibre components, ensures that the whole extension unit and the MIS-Hip-Device can be used at the operating table without the need for a floor support, ensuring minimal use of space in the OR.
High degree of operating comfort.
The user-friendliness of the new extension unit and its modular components allow it to be mounted quickly and securely to the TRUMPF operating table. The leg sections required for induction can be easily removed in the OR, or mounted for the final positioning of the lower extremities independently of any extension struts which have already been installed. When working with the MIS-Hip-Device, such as during a hip arthroscopy, the free, three-dimensional adjustment of the foot is carried out with the aid of a gas spring supported cardan joint. This allows personnel to operate the system with ease, both smoothly and conveniently with just one hand.
The spindle traction mechanism assists the surgeon in the rough and fine adjustment for the precise positioning of the extremity. The leg can be pre-positioned comfortably; the extension is pretensioned with the aid of a rapid-action lock. The variable traction force is built up directly by an easy-tooperate spindle mechanism. Resetting is simple and takes place without any loss of position, even in the case of complex fractures.
All operating elements are highlighted in blue, making them easily identifiable and user friendly.
Flexible adjustment options.
The new extension unit with the MIS-Hip-Device is a modular system, allowing individual and optimal adjustment for every type of intervention and every patient.
The various extension struts indicate the broad range of possible individual applications. These can be variably mounted to the different coupling points, reducing the structure to the minimum possible. The stainless steel extension struts have a double joint to allow comfortable positioning of the upper and lower extremities.
The MIS-Hip-Device allows three-dimensional adjustment of the leg. The leg can be extended, abducted or adducted by up to 45°, and bent or rotated at the knee joint during the operation. In addition, all of the adjustment options can be combined as required.
Optimum patient safety.
The innovative extension shoe safely and securely encloses the bulk of the lower leg and provides a strong grip at the ankle joint, even for high traction forces.
High quality padding of the counter traction post provides effective prevention of nerve compressions and decubital ulcers around the gonads. All components of the extension unit are approved for a patient weight of up to 160 kg.
Intra-operative diagnosis.
Superior, 3D-capable radiolucence is possible in the area from the pelvis to the foot. The streamlined design, smart use of carbon fibre elements at the decisive points (for example the counter traction post), and the intelligent arrangement of the coupling points (some of them with partially detachable joints), all make this possible. The extension struts are available optionally in stainless steel with a double joint, or in carbon fibre with single joint. The complete unit dispenses with a support foot in every configuration. This ensures trouble-free access on the foot side with the C-arm.
Streamlined design.
The streamlined, aesthetically pleasing design offers the user clear advantages in positioning the patient, using imaging devices and in pre-, intra- and post-operative patient management.
The compact structure of the extension unit means that it can also be used in small ORs.
