Hybrid OR – from planning to workflow
Speaker: PD Dr. med. Johannes Gahlen, Director, Klinik für Gefäßchirurgie
Vasculäre & endovasculäre Chirurgie, DGG Gefäßzentrum, Klinikum Ludwigsburg, Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus der Universität Heidelberg
Working environment and working method will be changed drastically by the usage of big equipment in modern hybrid OR’s. This has magnificent impact on workflow, as well as OR nursing staff and anesthesia.
Early workflow planning is highly important and has to be integrated in the planning of a hybrid OR from the very beginning.
Experience with the hybrid-OR: Planning, use, spectrum of interventions
Speaker: Dr. Helmut Isringhaus, Chief Surgeon, Klinik für Herz-, Thorax- und Gefäßchirurgie, HerzZentrum Saar
Planning, construction and use of a hybrid-OR require good cooperation between all professional groups involved. By the start there will be far-reaching positive consequences for the entire hospital. This primarily affects the spectrum of interventions and interdisciplinary.
The future of hybrid operating rooms
Speaker: Dr. Thomas Hartkens, Global Marketing Manager,
Siemens AG
The integration of interventional and surgical techniques is demanding a new working environment for an interdisciplinary cardiovascular team: the hybrid operating room, where angiographic imaging capabilities are integrated in an operating suite. Traditionally, C-arms have been used either for simple 2D fluoroscopy or 3D rotational angiography. The imaging capabilities of modern C-arm technology have dramatically changed in the last five years. Nowadays, C-arms, which are able to acquire CT-like 3D images, are used for image-based guidance and even provide intra-operative functional imaging, like flow analysis and measurements for cerebral blood volume (CBV). These innovative technologies will spark new workflows in the OR and enable the application in surgical disciplines which have not used angiographic systems up to now.
Navigation and image solutions in OR
Speakers: Dieter Ceglarz, Dipl.-Ing. MBA, Business Development Manager,
Brainlab AG
Patient recovery see advantages due to minimal invasive techniques in the OR. New technical equipment which support those techniques may increase complexity. Within this presentation a new OR concept will be shown which tackles the technical challenges in the OR.
Influence of light on perception and well-being in hospitals
Speaker: Markus Canazei, Dipl.-Ing. MMag. MSc, Project Manager Visual Perception
BARTENBACH LICHTLABOR GMBH
Basically, light enables visual perception, triggers emotions and influences physiological processes in humans. As a consequence, light fastens and improves psychophysiological rehabilitation. On the other hand, light has a positive impact on the working environment of nurses and physicians.
By means of summarizing own clinical and psychology of perception studies and trials from other research groups a holistic insight into lighting effects in hospitals should be provided.
Design, hygiene and light in the operating room of the future
Speaker: Thomas Lütke-Kappenberg, Managing Director,
MEDIK Hospital Design GmbH
It seems at first impossible to build in the light of directives, regulations and laws, function rooms and operating rooms that meet a high standard of design, hygiene, functionality and high technology. As one of the oldest materials, glass offers a variety of creative ways and in combination with LED lighting concepts we are able to achieve hygienic requirements and also to put the rooms in a unique atmosphere.
The translucency of the glass has a crucial role. Through the use of colored Power LEDs it makes the room in different color scenarios emerge.
The design claim is not only the wall but also at the door and the floor is now systematically pursued. Holograms with 3D effect on the wall, backlit subjects, under-lit glass floors in waiting areas, registration areas of colored glass designs on glass doors and stained glass walls have become a stylistic device that provides an unique ambience.
The technique is used in this environment and complements the concept of space with interesting features. The control of room features with an embedded touch-screen interface in the glass is to be mentioned here as well as the big monitor screens behind the wall. Another highlight is the use of a special video projector to project images in HD quality from the rear (12 cm from the wall) on a 180 cm wide glass panels.
In combination with many other functions of an integrated operating room, such as the control of medical devices, the routing of video signals, documentation of pictures and videos, offers modern operating rooms today a work environment where glass plays a central role.
Efficient working in the OR: Video management and ergonomic lighting
Speaker: Dr. Tim Schwebel, Head of Product Management Room & Workplace Solutions, TRUMPF Medizin Systeme GmbH + Co. KG
Economic viability is the driving force inside the OR. Efficiency in the deployment of time, material and staff is indispensable to reach this goal.
The speech illuminates on how video management and OR lighting can lead to a highly efficient resource usage while parallel facilitating an ergonomic working environment.
